Oct. 27th, 2026 10:13 amicon_uk posting in scans_dailyIn the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like.
Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat among yourselves.
The intent of these posts is to chat and have some fun and, sure, vent a little as required. Reasoned debate is fine, as always, but if you have to ask if something is going over the line, think carefully before posting please.
Normal board rules about conduct and behaviour still apply, of course.
It's been suggested that, if discussing spoilers for recent media events, it might be advisable to consider using the rot13 method to prevent other members seeing spoilers in passing.
The world situation is the world situation. If you're following the news, you know it as much as I do, if you're not, then there are better sources than scans_daily. But please, no doomscrolling, for your own sake.
Well, in positive news, Brazil elected Lula for a fourth non-consecutive, term flying in the face of projections following the previous round that Right wing Flávio Bolsonaro would win.
And in Serbia, long time, pro-Russia leader Aleksandar Vučić, has admitted defeat in an election which saw the Student List, a movement with no obvious leaders and whose members are not career politicians, achieve power after two years of effort.
If this looks like a less than subtle reminder to our American members to make use of their right to vote in their upcoming Mid-term elections (Where mail-in voting has already started I believe), you're damned right it is!
Walter Koenig, best known as the original Chekov in Star Trek, though also for his far more nuanced and sinister role as Alfred Bester of the Psi-Corps on Babylon 5, has passed away at the venerable age of 90.
And the world of animation also lost Eric Bauza at the ridiculously young age of 46. To list his voice acting credits beyond the obvious Warner Brothers ones of Bugs, Daffy, Foghorn Leghorn and Road Runner, would take forever, so here's his IMDB page which lists 421 different series/games he performed in, that's titles, not number of roles, or performances of each. Chances are, if you've enjoyed any even vaguely mainstream animation over the past 20 years, he was in it somewhere. Utterly invested in animation as a genre and an advocate it as an artform, his loss is a tragic one ebcause he should ahve had so much longer to share those talents.
Oh, forgot to ask, anyone got interesting plans for Halloween?
If it helps get in the mood, Mainframe Studios has released HD copies of both their CGI movies based off of Jill Thompson's Scary Godmother: Scary Godmother: Halloween Spooktacular and Scary Godmother: The Revenge of Jimmy

Nightwing #142 is Dick going to Gotham.
Oct. 25th, 2026 03:58 pmthanekos posting in scans_dailyThe end of #141'd promised " Bad Seeds " next.
#142 delivered with those seeds blowing over to Blüdhaven.
Dick ' notice[d] it, but it hardly register[ed] ' - he was focused on Blüdhaven's criminal mayor Bisogni.
An explosion blossomed and Dick thought ' Ignore it. '
( He had older growth to deal with. )

NS: ‘Clayface’ discussion
Oct. 22nd, 2026 09:35 pmcyberghostface posting in scans_daily
What did people think of ‘Clayface’?
I thought it was a solid film overall. Tom Rhys Harries is great as Matt Hagen. It’s very much a body horror film with a bit of gore and gruesome imagery so it’s not for everyone though.
At minimum I think it shows the potential going forward in the DCU that we can have films like this exist in the same universe as ‘Superman’. I would love to see more comicbook horror films going forward.

I hope our France based members are okay following the unrest in several major cities.
I hope our US based members are okay following... having to be American in Q4 2026,
I started watching Avatar - Seven Havens, and gosh, it's a beautiful looking animation style, quite a lot of Moebius inspiration I feel, though more for the background characters than the main ones.

Batman: Bad Seeds - Gotham Central #2
Oct. 18th, 2026 08:10 pmshakalooloo posting in scans_daily
Only now am I wondering how Anarky is running around in this crossover, doing delivery driving and theft, when Batman caught him as an accessory to two murders back in issue 4 of Batman. No way he posted bail for that, surely? Forget that, given that he's a 'mask', surely he gets disappeared by Savage as soon as he hits his custody.
